John Coil was an adult entrpreneur who crossed the line: he angered Christian moralists. When prosecuted for tax evasion on the profits of his adult businesses, the Attorney General of the USA, John Ashcroft, under pressure from Christian moralizers saw to it that he was also prosecuted for obscenity.
Coil's most notorious sale item, however, had no credits, no (c) and no way of identifying where it came from. Oddly enough, it failed to raise an eyebrow. It was a XXX movie based on the sex life, resurrection and sex after death of the Prophet Mohammad.
As if blaspheming against Islam was not enough, Coil packaged and trafficked his transgressive religio-porn epic - his personal sexualized version of the Koran - anywhere he could sell it. All this while escaping a fatwa.
But what about the film itself? As blasphemous pornography it is inherently transgressive. With a rudimentary plot, some dialogue and a spiritual hodge-podge which parodies Islam, it is perhaps the foremost attack on Islam through the use of sexually explicit material.
